Planning a babymoon felt different this time. With our second little one on the way, we wanted more than just a break – we craved moments that felt both grounding and special. So we crafted the kind of itinerary that ticked every box: a private villa to settle into, a luxe beachfront stay to soak up the sunset, and a serene jungle retreat to reconnect.
Bali was the obvious choice, and this trio – Villa Luja in Canggu, The Oberoi Beach Resort in Seminyak, and Amandari in Ubud – was the perfect mix of villa life, beach life, and jungle life. It gave us space to slow down, time to explore, and memories we’ll hold onto forever.
VILLA LIFE IN CANGGU – VILLA LUJA
We began our journey in Canggu at Villa Luja – a modern five-bedroom retreat owned by close friends who live locally. The villa felt instantly like home, with curated interiors, a rooftop jacuzzi, and tropical garden views. It was the kind of place where you could truly settle in. We shopped local boutiques, caught golden hour from the rooftop, and ordered in wood-fired pizza after long swims in the pool. With beach clubs and cool cafes just minutes away, Villa Luja gave us the best of both worlds – privacy and access.

BEACH LIFE IN SEMINYAK – THE OBEROI BEACH RESORT BALI
Next, we made our way to Seminyak for a romantic few nights at The Oberoi Beach Resort. Stepping through the gates felt like entering another era – one of old-world glamour, sprawling lawns, and Balinese-style villas that open to the sea. We started our mornings with oceanfront breakfasts and ended our days with sunset cocktails as Ryder played in the gardens. Its location right on the beach – and just steps from Seminyak’s best restaurants, shops and bars – made it feel like the heart of Bali’s golden coast.

JUNGLE LIFE IN UBUD – AMANDARI
Our final stop took us into the hills of Ubud to Amandari, where time seemed to slow and the air felt heavier with meaning. Tucked above the Ayung River gorge, this legendary resort was everything we’d hoped for and more – peaceful, spiritual, and deeply connected to the land. From handcrafted toys made by the staff for Ryder to a private Balinese feast served in our suite, every moment here was thoughtful and intimate. If you’re craving a tranquil escape to mark a special chapter, Amandari is pure magic.

Whether you’re looking to unwind, explore, or simply savour slow moments before a big life change, this three-stop itinerary gave us a beautiful mix of everything we love about Bali. And best of all, it reminded us just how powerful it is to pause, breathe, and take it all in – together.
FAQs
What is a babymoon and why choose Bali?
A babymoon is a relaxing holiday taken before the arrival of a new baby. Bali is the perfect destination with its mix of luxury villas, beachfront resorts, and serene jungle retreats – ideal for couples or families seeking a peaceful yet memorable escape.
Is Bali a good destination for travelling with a toddler?
Yes! Bali is incredibly family-friendly. Our four-year-old loved the open spaces, friendly locals, and delicious food. Many villas and resorts also offer babysitting services and child-friendly amenities.
How many nights should I spend in each Bali location?
We recommend spending 2–3 nights in each area – Canggu, Seminyak, and Ubud – for a well-paced itinerary that blends villa relaxation, beachside luxury, and jungle tranquility.
When is the best time to fly during pregnancy?
The second trimester – between 14 and 28 weeks – is generally considered the safest and most comfortable time to travel. Morning sickness has usually eased (although mine hadn’t), energy levels are higher, and you’re still mobile enough to move around easily on flights.
Most airlines allow you to fly up to 36 weeks if you have a low-risk pregnancy, but always check their specific policies. After 28 weeks, you may need a medical certificate stating your due date and that you’re fit to fly.
As always, chat with your doctor or midwife before booking anything – especially for long-haul flights or island destinations like Bali.
Should I wear compression stockings when flying pregnant?
While I’m not a medical professional, I can share what worked for me. My obstetrician recommended wearing compression stockings during flights to help with circulation and reduce the risk of swelling or deep vein thrombosis (DVT). I wore them on all our flights during the babymoon and found them really helpful.
Every pregnancy is different, so it’s best to speak with your doctor or midwife to see what they recommend for you – especially if you’re taking a long-haul flight.
What should I pack for a babymoon if I’m pregnant?
Comfort is everything – especially when your bump seems to grow by the hour. I was around 16–18 weeks pregnant on our babymoon, and even though it was my second pregnancy, it caught me by surprise. My first pregnancy was during Covid, so I basically lived in Qantas PJs and didn’t realise just how quickly things shift when you’re trying to dress cute.
Outfits I had tried on and packed just days before leaving started feeling snug midway through the trip – at least a third of my wardrobe became too tight to wear. My advice? Pack light, but smart. Choose pieces that are stretchy, flowy, and forgiving – think relaxed linen dresses, soft knits, oversized shirts, and anything with an elastic waist. And always leave a little extra room… because baby has plans of their own.
