Some dresses are made for golden hour – and everything in between. The Newport Dress by Monday Swimwear is one of them.
With its sheer crochet knit and plunging neckline, this piece is the perfect throw-on for sun-drenched afternoons and balmy evenings. I wore the ‘Husk’ shade – the perfect warm tan – during our time in the Maldives and shot it at Velassaru, where the midday light was dazzling and the ocean popped in an iridescent shade of aqua.
The silhouette is effortlessly flattering – hugging in all the right places with a flowy hem that moves with the breeze. It’s the kind of piece you can throw on over swimwear, then wear straight to sunset cocktails. The open weave catches the light beautifully, while the earthy tone makes it easy to pair with everything from bold bikinis to raffia accessories.
One of the things I love most is how versatile this dress is. It feels elevated and beachy all at once. The crochet fabric is also incredibly travel-friendly – it doesn’t wrinkle or need ironing, making it the ultimate suitcase staple. I’m just under 5’4 and wearing the Petite size. It was a little oversized on me, but in the best possible way – relaxed, breezy, and perfect for the tropics.
I styled it barefoot with salty hair on the sand, and again with simple slides and statement sunglasses for lounging under palms. If you’re after a warm-weather piece that works just as well at the beach as it does at the bar, this is it.
