You can never have too many strapless, Brazilian-style bikinis. I have a tendency to get stuck in a neutrals rut – even with swimwear, so I was really glad to have this multi-coloured tie-dye bikini by Nueve Sandias Swimwear on my last trip to Indonesia. The best thing about it, is that like all the bikinis in the collection, it’s reversible, with this one reversing out to a bright red. Colour is something this label does really well, and no doubt their location has something to do with it. Based out of the Caribbean Coast in Colombia, the eclectic collection is a fusion of South American culture and an endless summer way of life. Think beachside fiestas on hot summer nights where the dress code is a brightly coloured swimsuit with a sarong and bare feet.
While more and more labels are turning to mass production, it’s refreshing to see smaller labels doing small runs of limited edition pieces. Nueve Sandias bikinis and one-pieces are hand-crafted, ensuring that each suit is immaculately cut, dyed and one of a kind. The sisters behind this label are just about to launch their newest collection, so start planing that summer fiesta.
We shot this bikini amongst the beautiful topical gardens at Legian Beach Hotel in Bali, Indonesia. We’d never stayed this close to the action in Kuta before, but the property was so big you wouldn’t even know you were staying in the thick of it.
