After weeks of rain in Sri Lanka, I finally reached the Maldives where I was able to give this bikini the proper island life vacay it deserved. With its unique aqua floral print and contrasting woven jacquard stripe, this bralette-style bikini matched my surrounds perfectly.
Villingili Island in the Maldives is where every shade of aqua comes to life. The overwater bungalows at Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort & Spa, are straight out of a tropical daydream. While they are impossibly beautiful and luxurious, they have a rustic castaway vibe – think Robinson Crusoe meets James Bond’s island lair. The huge king-sized bed looks straight out over the Indian Ocean, so you can wake up to a direct view of the turquoise-hued lagoon. Our villa was in the middle and was surrounded by deep lagoon water perfect for snorkelling (and bikini posing), so we could dive straight off our deck into the clear aqua ocean. The Shangri-la told us they chose that villa for us because we were from Australia and they know we like jumping into the ocean. You’ve got to love a resort that can anticipate overwater bungalow needs I didn’t even know I had.
I spent my days living in this bikini in our overwater villa surrounded by the incredible Indian Ocean. With such a luxurious island home, it was only fitting that my swimwear hold its own. Handmade in limited numbers using an exclusive locally created print, luxe fabric, gold metal hardware, and super soft lining, Peony Swimwear make some of the most premium swimwear around. Team with a pair of luxe sunglasses and a Panama hat, and you’ve got your island life wardrobe covered.
