Early one morning on Bawah Island, we wandered up the beach to this sandbar for one of the dreamiest sunrises I’ve ever seen. I’d been saving this black one-piece swimsuit by American swimwear designer Tori Praver specifically for this trip. I couldn’t have dreamed up a better spot for my swimsuit to make its maiden voyage than the warm tropical waters surrounding this Indonesian archipelago. As the sun made its first appearance on the horizon, I waded out into the ocean for the ultimate way to start the day.
What makes this one-piece so unique is its edgy cut-out design. From the back, it looks like a regular bikini with high-waisted bottoms. But from the front, this one-piece really comes into its own – take note swimwear designers, this is how you do cut-outs. While on paper a skimpy, Brazilian style, cut-out black one-piece swimsuit would be trashy, in reality it’s the most chic swimsuit I’ve ever owned. Paired with your favourite over-sized sunglasses (Celine’s in my case) and yellow gold jewellery, and you’ll be ready to channel your own private island vibes.
