On the 25th of June this year I will be turning 30; shocking I know. You may all be thinking how awesome it must be to have a birthday exactly six months apart from Christmas, but let me tell you it is not. Well, not when you live in Australia and your birthday is in THE MIDDLE OF WINTER! I’ve never been able to celebrate with a pool party, a beach BBQ or a balmy night out – unless you count my 8th birthday party where my twin brother accidentally set our backyard shed on fire with a sparkler. You may also be wondering what the hell this has to do with a Mexican villa, which brings me to my birthday wish. This year, the only thing I want is to have a summer birthday and that’s where this canary yellow getaway comes in.
Perched on a cliff overlooking Mexico’s Pacific Ocean is Casa Dos Estrellas, a villa created by world renowned architect Manolo Mestre and a potential location for my first pool party. Because what holiday rental could be more appropriate that one with an infinity pool that surrounds the entire villa. Now I’ve checked out the features of this place and there are plenty more for water babies like me. The villa is decked out with a 12 person Jacuzzi, its own private beach and dual showers in the master suite. Oddly enough, a fax machine is also mentioned amongst the property’s features. Cause you know, when I’m planning a luxurious escape that’s the first think I think to check.
The owners of Casa Dos Estrellas are “a Hollywood producer and his sultry Italian actress wife” who I imagine to be like Sofía Vergara’s (Colombian) character out of Modern Family. I can just see her clicking her well manicured fingers to order a poolside cocktail. Yeah that’s right, the place also comes equipped with staff, including a chef.
So who wants in?
I finally got a response to my enquiry about hiring the place – it’s $4,000 a night! I know that’s a lot, but I was actually expecting much more.
