Seventeen Seventy’s best eats

When we’re on holidays, everything we do seems to revolve around our next meal. We recently visited the seaside town of Seventeen Seventy on The Southern Great Barrier Reef and in between swimming with turtles and exploring the reef, we got to sample some seriously good food. Whether you’re passing through or staying a few days, make sure you check out these favourites. Photography by Michaela Skovranova.

Getaway Garden Café

A super cute café in a tropical setting that makes fresh and healthy meals using seasonal produce. We went there for lunch and had salmon, salad and green juices. I was particularly impressed with their selection of herbal tea and awesome paleo options.

Don’t leave without trying: The incredibly addictive paleo muesli.

Bustards Restaurant

Drenched in sunshine and the saltiness of the ocean, Bustards is an alfresco restaurant located on the main beach in Agnes Water. If you’re after local seafood, this is your place. We feasted on an array of freshly caught seafood for dinner and were so impressed we went back for breakfast the next day.

Don’t leave without trying: The yummy dragon fruit smoothie.
