Dylan Rieder at La Casa in Byron Bay

On an idyllic beach in Byron Bay is La Casa – a beautiful beach house owned by Corona where artists, designers, musicians, restaurateurs, surfers and skaters escape to become inspired. With an in-house recording studio, an art room and a world-class surf break on their doorstep, it’s the ultimate creative haven. Legendary filmmaker Taylor Steel captures each artist’s stay to reveal the inner workings and creative processes of both talented individuals and groups.

One of my favourite residencies so far features pro skater Dylan Rieder’s. After his trip to New Zealand for Monster Children Magazine’s Team Average 2.0, he and Natas Kaupas went and hung out at La Casa for 10 days of ramp building, creating and relaxation. This is the first video in a two part series – the second one features Natas doing his thing. I love everything about this video, but most of all I love Dylan’s all-white-everything skating outfits – because nothing says islands life more than a man in white pants.
