RAFW – Day 3

Fernando Frisoni

What a day. Fernando Frisoni showed his collection against the magnificent backdrop of Sydney Harbour, Nacho Pop hit up almost every show and someone got sat on in the front row at Shakuhachi. WHAT!? So apparently some blogger saw an empty seat with a bulging goody bag prime for the taking and decided to sit in it. Unfortunately the real front rower was not a no-show and simply just running late. They demanded their seat back and when the blogger refused, they sat on them. Talk about AWKWARD. Now the fact that the highlight of the Shakuhachi show was blogger goss says enough about the collection and only goes to show the high calibre of designers on the runway on day three.

The fashion pack were loving this show before it had even started. Set behind the Sydney Opera House at Bennelong Point, the grey skies had finally cleared to a beautiful sunny day which meant the crowd could finally legitimately wear their sunnies inside.  Using a sophisticated palette of white, black and gold, Frisoni combined his soft tailoring with edgy variations like fringing on dresses and knee-baring pants.

Michael Lo Sordo

Before this show, I didn’t have a clue who Michael Lo Sordo was – I mean, I didn’t even have my camera switched on or a pre-tweet ready to go. This however, was one of the best shows I saw all week. In a delicate palette of white, soft pink, baby blue and sharp black, Sordo’s collection was minimalistic while paying attention to current trends like knife pleating. It was ethereal fluidity at its best and if there’s one piece of advice I could give you, it would be to go out and buy a long sheer skirt.

Gary Bigeni

To say I was excited about Gary Bigeni’s show would have been an understatement, and luckily he did not disappoint. Drapey, slinky and carefully cut-out separates in turquoise, rust and monochrome stripes all hit the runway, proving that no one does ‘throw-on pieces’ better than Bigeni. I wore at least one of his pieces every single day of RAFW and after seeing this collection I am certain I’ll be adding a lot more to my wardrobe this summer. Love the red lips!
