The new beach towel

There are two things I keep in my car at all times: a bikini and a beach towel. But I’m not talking about just any beach towel; I’m talking about the Tunisian Fouta Towel. Originally used in Tunisian bathhouses in North Africa, the name Founta was given to a Moroccan desert tribe piece of clothing that we more commonly refer to as the Turkish Towel.

You can buy them all over, but I really like the summery sorbet colours stocked on online boutique Timber & Tonicparticularly the tropical aqua blue! Made out of French cotton with cool hand-knotted fringing, they are lightweight, quick-drying and super absorbent. In fact, the more you wash them, the softer and more absorbent they become.

Keeping one in the car doesn’t just cover me for impromptu swims; they are also the perfect size for a beach picnic for two. So ditch your heavy sand-covered towel and streamline your summer.
