‘Lights out for the reef’ for Earth Hour

Earth Hour - Manly 2014 - Michaela Skovranova Photography

A few weeks ago we trekked out to the seaside town of Manly for Earth Hour where we turned our ‘Lights out for the Reef’ in an effort to help save one of the world’s most iconic places – Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. The destruction of the reef is happening on a multitude of levels, so it was great to see Earth Hour focus its attention on the environmental crisis.

With Benjalu playing, an environmental doco premiering and the sound of the waves right behind us, there was no better place to support Earth Hour than in Manly that night. When it was time to turn the lights out, we headed down to the beach to take part in a candlelit protest on the sand.

You don’t need to have taken part in Earth Hour to help affect change. You can take action right now by taking a pledge to help create a more sustainable world. Join thousands of Australians and millions of people from around the world who are now climate leaders and take the Earth Hour pledge.
