Hottest Summer Trends: Pearl-Beaded Booties

I’m not usually a big fan of embellishments – I prefer to keep my fashion and accessories pretty simple, letting colours, cuts and fabrics do the talking. But I can’t get enough of the current beaded bootie trend that’s sweeping the fashion scene.

It all started at Paris Fashion Week when Kanye West debuted some of the most extravagant and controversial stilettos on the market. In collaboration with Italian shoe designer Giuseppe Zanotti (where Kanye has worked as an apprentice), the suede pearl-beaded booties retail at a staggering $5,800.

If spending six-months rent on a pair of heels isn’t your thing, cult Aussie label Friend of Mine have an alternative with the release of their new ‘Barney’ heel. Their suede-beaded platforms come in both black and white – they don’t use real pearls, but they don’t come with the unachievable price tag either. For $440 you can get your hands on a signature piece that takes an entire day to bead by hand, and still pay your rent. Looks like a pretty good compromise to us.
