Sydney swimwear label Bondi Bather hit the runway as part of the Group Swimwear show and put on one hell of a finale. Designer Kerry Cusack sent models down the runway in an array of bikinis, one-pieces and rashies in photographic prints of Bondi Beach captured by local surf photographer Brad Malyon from Frothers. Models wore perforated leather Spring Court kicks in metallic gold and silver – I’m usually not a fan of shoes of any kind with swimwear, but it actually looked pretty cool.
The abstract prints showed off Bondi’s clear aqua water and epic golden sunsets, but it wasn’t Cusack’s solid summer collection that had everyone talking. Kyle Sandilands’ girlfriend Imogen Anthony closed the show in a bikini made purely of sand. After hearing the comments in the male dominated photographer pit when a model in a see-through shirt walked for Bec & Bridge the night before, I was glad to be shooting from a platform with my sound and lighting buddies.
